Weekly Comedy Open Mics in Memphis

Open mics are a fantastic place to see comedy being molded, made and, sometimes, completely stepped on. They are usually free, and a chance to see great bits come to life, and horrible bits die.
Memphis hosts a variety of open mics in different parts of town on every weekday. Most mics allow 3-5 minutes of stage time for anyone who signs up. Punctuality is almost always appreciated. Hosts and venues are listed below. To sign up at an open mic, usually showing up on time and speaking with the host is all that is required.
Don’t miss this relaxed and engaging open mic, late every Sunday in the intimate Canvas Bar on Madison. Music, Spoken word and Comedy all welcome. Signup between 9:30 and 10, show starts at 10 p.m. host is Topher Shaw.
Canvas – 1737 Madison Avenue 38104
This mic happens on the first Sunday of every month and takes a break for the following Sundays. Sign up at 7 p.m. on Broad Avenue at one of Memphis’ Pirate themed bars. Happy hour drink specials. Host is Dagmar.
The Cove – 2559 Broad Ave, Memphis, TN 38112
Sign up at 9 p.m., show at 9:30 p.m. Mic features beer and pizza specials and constantly changing stage decor. Out-of-town features are a regular occurrence and welcome. Sometimes there is a joke theme. Host is Doug Gillon.

This weekly open-mic features music, spoken word and poetry as well as comedy. Held at Mot & Ed’s southern eatery, kitchen is open but alcohol is BYOB. $5 entry for audience members, $3 for performers.

Chuckle’s Comedy House hosts the only Memphis open mic held inside a dedicated comedy club. Mic often features an experienced headliner to close the show.

Rob Love hosts this open mic poetry and comedy showcase that features a prize for the best open mic comic, and established headliners. Signup is at 7, show at 7:30.

Amanda Walker hosts the weekly open mic at Rockhouse Live in midtown. This mic is known for its length, prizes, and fun joke themes.

Arguably the most popular open mic in Tennessee, the P&H Open Mic regularly attracts full crowds and 20 to 30 comics per night before the list is closed. Punctuality is helpful in getting a spot on this one. Held at Memphis’ most legendary dive. Host is Tommy Oler.
